Zonal Education Officer Mandi Organizes Cleanliness Drive and Painting Competition in Loran as Part of Swachhta Pakhwada

Loran, August 8, 2024: In a commendable initiative to promote cleanliness and environmental awareness, Zonal Education Officer (ZEO) Mandi, Anwar Khan, organized a comprehensive Cleanliness Drive and Painting Competition at Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya (KGBV) Loran and Government Middle School (GMS) Loran. The event, held as part of the ongoing Swachhta Pakhwada, saw enthusiastic participation from students and staff alike.
The day began with a vibrant cleanliness rally led by ZEO Anwar Khan, which involved 230 students from KGBV Loran and GMS Loran. The rally commenced from KGBV Loran and concluded at the Tourist Reception Centre (TRC) Loran, covering significant public areas to raise awareness about the importance of cleanliness. The students, armed with placards and banners advocating for Swachhta (cleanliness), passionately chanted slogans in favor of maintaining hygiene and a clean environment.
As part of the drive, the participants engaged in cleaning activities at key locations, including the TRC Loran, adjacent roads and lanes, the premises of Girls Middle School Loran, and its surrounding areas. The hands-on approach of the students demonstrated their commitment to the cause and the effectiveness of educational initiatives in fostering a sense of responsibility towards the environment.
The Painting Competition, a key highlight of the day, saw the participation of 15 talented students who showcased their creativity on themes related to Swachhta Pakhwada. The competition aimed not only to encourage artistic expression but also to instill the values of cleanliness and environmental conservation among the young minds. The artwork produced was a testament to the students’ understanding and appreciation of the cleanliness drive’s objectives.
Following the rally and competition, a solemn pledge was administered to all participating students and the 15 staff members present at TRC Loran. This pledge underscored the collective commitment to maintaining cleanliness and promoting a sustainable environment, aligning with the goals of the Swachhta Pakhwada.
In a further demonstration of his dedication to the cause, ZEO Mandi Anwar Khan also participated in a subsequent rally held at Middle School Kharappa Loran. This rally, which featured 175 students and 8 staff members, was flagged off towards Ziarat Sain Elahi Baksh Loran. During his address to both rallies, Anwar Khan emphasized the significance of Swachhta Pakhwada, highlighting the initiative’s role in cultivating a culture of cleanliness and environmental stewardship among students and the community.
“The essence of Swachhta Pakhwada lies in creating awareness and fostering a deep-rooted sense of responsibility towards our surroundings,” said Anwar Khan. “It is our collective duty to ensure that our schools and communities are clean, hygienic, and conducive to healthy living. By actively participating in these initiatives, we are not only contributing to the Swachh Bharat Mission but also setting an example for future generations.”
The program also saw contributions from several other dignitaries who interacted with the students, including Nitesha Iqbal Khan, Warden of KGBV Loran; Mohd Akber Sheikh, Master; Sanna Khan, Mohd Ashraf, Master; Imtiaz Ahmed, Sameena Safvi, and Mohd Farooq. Their involvement added further depth to the event, providing valuable insights and encouragement to the young participants.
The successful organization of these events in the far-flung area of Loran is a testament to the dedication and proactive leadership of ZEO Mandi, Anwar Khan. His hands-on participation in these initiatives, despite the challenges posed by the remote location, highlights the critical role of educational leaders in driving community-based environmental initiatives.
