Chief Education Officer of Poonch Mr. Bishamber Dass, inaugurated the newly transformed Government Middle School Bhainch today, marking a significant milestone in rural education. The school’s remarkable transformation was achieved through the Vidyanjali initiative, a flagship program of the Ministry of Education, GoI.
The ceremony commenced with the lighting of the traditional lamp by the chief guest, followed by the national anthem. Students presented a colorful cultural program, showcasing their talents in the revitalized learning environment.
CEO Dass narrated the journey of the project, which began when educationists discussed the initiative and sought support from the teaching community. Over 1,200 teachers contributed, making this school unique in India. Dass emphasized, “Our primary objective is to align our education system with the National Education Policy 2020, catalyzing tangible qualitative change.”
The once modest institution now boasts modernized classrooms with latest technology, a pre-primary section, landscaped playground, and inspirational slogans on its walls. The renovation, overseen by a committee of experts, has also introduced various extracurricular activities for holistic development of the school’s 160 students.
DEPO Poonch N.M. Suri applauded the role of the CEO and teachers in realizing this vision. The Ex-sarpanch, Mohd Sadiq, Ex Sarpanch Mohd Yaseen, parents and PRI members appreciated the teachers’ efforts in elevating rural education quality.
As part of the inauguration ceremony, CEO Bishamber Dass planted a tree on the school ground, symbolizing growth and environmental awareness. This act launched a new district-wide initiative aimed at promoting ecological consciousness among students. Dass announced that tree planting would become a regular practice in all schools across Poonch district, with each institution tasked with creating and maintaining its own green space. “By integrating environmental stewardship into our educational framework,” Dass explained, “we’re not only beautifying our schools but also instilling crucial values of sustainability in our young learners.” This green initiative is set to complement the academic improvements brought about by the Vidyanjali program, further enhancing the holistic development of students in Poonch.
Other speakers included Rupinder Kour, Principal HSS Boys Poonch; Anwar Hussain, ZEO Kanuyian and IC of the school; Balbir Singh; Anwar Hussain Darshan Kumar; and Fayaz Aarzoo.
