A house in Jaran Wali Gali collapsed yesterday amidst ongoing road construction by the Border Roads Organization (BRO), triggering widespread outrage among local residents. Despite repeated warnings from the community about the risks posed by conducting construction work during the rainy season, the BRO proceeded with the project. The continuous vibrations and soil displacement from the construction activities are believed to have contributed to the collapse of the house, which belonged to a middle-class family. The owner’s worst fears were realized as the structure gave way, leaving the family homeless and prompting an immediate protest by the community against the BRO’s negligence.

In response to the collapse and ensuing protest, Tehsildar Surankote and SHO Surankote arrived at the scene to address the agitated crowd and assess the damage. They assured the affected family and the protesters that the local administration would extend all possible assistance to help them recover from the disaster. The officials promised immediate relief measures and a thorough investigation into the incident to hold those responsible accountable. The community, while temporarily pacified by these assurances, remains vigilant and demands that such reckless actions by the BRO are not repeated, calling for stricter oversight and better planning for construction activities, especially during vulnerable weather conditions.
